Adam Simonsen

Adam Simonsen is the founder of Play With a Pro and also a member of The Royal Danish Orchestra for the past 12 years. 

Adam E. Simonsen is educated from The Royal Danish Music Conservatory and continued his professional studies as a full scholarship student at The Juilliard School of Music in New York and at the Music Academy of the West. His Teachers have included Jørgen Misser Jensen, Lee Morgan, Charles Neidich, Fred Ormand and Bendt Neuchs Sørensen. Additional studies with Michel Arrignon, Karl Leister and Håkan Rosengren.

Adam has performed as soloist in Germany, Belgium, France, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, England, Brasil and the U.S, and has participated in festivals such as the Aspen Music Festival, Focus! Festival, NY, The Recife Music Festival, Pitteaa Music Festival among others. He premiered Carters Clarinet Concerto in Denmark with Athelas Sinfonietta to critical acclaim and has worked with composers such as Adés, Kurtag, Ligety, Boulez and Nørgård.

Adam holds a 2nd, e-flat and bass clarinet position with The Royal Danish Orchestra. He also played one year as principal clarinet with Brasils National Symphony Orchestra.

Adam plays extensively with Royal Danish Winds, one of Denmarks leading chamber ensembles with whom he has made several tours around Europe and performed in the Lincoln Center in NY as well as in Wigmore Hall in London.

He is the receipiant of The Sonning Grant and the Hempel Grant.
